Wagner 3 CD Lot Rickenbacher/Karajan/Walter Orchestral Works Classical EMI DG

This lot includes three exquisite classical music CDs featuring the masterful works of Richard Wagner, performed by world-renowned orchestras and conductors. The first CD is "Wagner Orchestral Works" performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Karl Anton Rickenbacher. It features iconic pieces such as "The Ride of the Valkyries" from Die Walküre (Act III), Götterdämmerung, Lohengrin, and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, recorded in March 1983. This edition is a UK release on the Classics For Pleasure label under EMI, catalog number CD-CFP 9008.

The second CD also highlights Wagner's "Die Walküre: Act 1" with legendary performers Lotte Lehmann (soprano), Lauritz Melchior (tenor), and Emanuel List (bass) backed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Bruno Walter. This rare mono, digitally remastered recording from 1935 was transferred from original 78 rpm records and released by EMI in 1988 (catalog CDH 7610202).

The third CD features selections from Wagner's operas including Tannhäuser, Siegfried-Idyll, Tristan und Isolde, with the illustrious soprano Jessye Norman and the Wiener Philharmoniker conducted by Herbert von Karajan. This live recording was made during the filming of "Karajan in Salzburg" and is a 1988 West Germany Polydor release (catalog 423 613-2), notable for its historic importance and exceptional performance.

Classical collectors and Wagner enthusiasts will appreciate these authentic releases showcasing some of the most dramatic and beloved orchestral works of the Romantic era.
